We loved it here. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, with old knotty pine paneling just like it should have. The kitchen was fully equipped with pots and pans, dishes, utensils, etc and the beds were very comfortable (more saucepan lids would have been helpful, though).And the cabin was so spotlessly clean when we arrived that it sparkled. All the cabins are set on a sweeping green lawn with incredible views of First Connecticut Lake and Mt. Magalloway beyond. There is even a seriously good ice cream stand right at the entrance. The owners - Kathy and Jerry - are friendly, funny, welcoming and very helpful with tips on things to do in Pittsburg. They have canoes and kayaks for guests to use and there are comfortable chairs to sit in to just admire the view. At night you can hear the loons calling to each other on the lake. Such a wonderful getaway; we didn't want to leave. We are so glad we made the trip! The owners were wonderful, and Otter Cove was waiting for us, fully equipped for cooking and right on the water. Loons called at night, and the quiet and the moonlight on the lake were both memorable. Don’t worry about checking your email or getting texts; you will enjoy your vacation from the internet! We stayed in a marvelous spot: a clean and comfortable cabin just a couple of hundred feet from First Connecticut Lake - a glorious place to canoe or kayak, to sit and enjoy a sunrise, and to use as a kick-off spot for hiking and other good experiences on NH hills and lakes. Jerry and Cathy provided us with lots of good information about places to visit to appreciate our environment and see wildlife. And Moose Alley Cones, right at Partridge Cabins, offers delicious ice creams! We needed to have some relaxation time so badly, so booked a cabin on a whim. Ended up having our truck break down on the way up. Got towed to a nearby dealer who got it going again after 4 hours. Called Kathy to tell her what was happening. She assured me that our cabin would still be waiting. Finally arrived at 7pm to a big hug and welcome from the hosts. You would have thought we were friends for years. Kathy insisted we go get settled, dip our feet in the lake and have a drink. Business could wait till morning. We have never felt so relaxed in our lives. We spoke to Gerry (her husband) each day and shared many, many stories. View was amazing. Cabin was great. Only thing I would change is to pick a cabin that allowed campfires (some do and some don't due to fire regulations). This may have been our fifth or sixth time as a group to this same place and it gets better every time! The cabins are beautifully kept, the grounds and dock area are great, but the hosts, Cathy and Jerry are outstanding. They will be as helpful as you need or stay away and leave you to yourselves.A great place if you're looking for something that far north; and the fishing's not bad either.
